No roads, no close neighbours and no crowds. Just the beautiful Marlborough Sounds.
Tawa Cove is an adults-only retreat in Endeavour Inlet, offering three cosy self-contained timber cabins surrounded by native bush, & close to the waterfront & private jetty. We also offer The Shanty, our bunk room accommodation for up to 6 adults.
Relax in the waterfront hot tub, explore the Sounds by kayak or paddleboard, go fishing, walk the Queen Charlotte Track - or simply sit back & enjoy the view.
Accessible only by boat or walking via the Queen Charlotte Track - we are 4 1/2 hours walk from the start of the track, Ship Cove, making us the ideal first night stay while on your walking adventure.
Not keen on walking, no problem, jump on one of the scheduled water taxis from Picton & enjoy your leisurely 1 1/2 -2 hour trip out here, to be dropped off at our private jetty.

Our Cabins
Our cosy, self-contained timber cabins are tucked into native bush in Endeavour Inlet, with the waterfront just a short stroll away. Each cabin sleeps a maximum of two adults & has its own private bathroom, kitchenette, deck & BBQ. Cabin 1 enjoys a sea view, while Cabins 2 & 3 look into the surrounding native bush.
The Shanty- Bunk Room Accommodation
The Shanty is a relaxed bunk-room option sleeping up to six adults, with one queen bed and two bunks providing four single beds. It's particularly well suited to groups and Queen Charlotte Track walkers travelling together.
The Shanty has its own dedicated bathroom just outside the room, accessed from the deck, and guests are welcome to use our communal kitchen during their stay.
Queen Charlotte Track Accommodation
Stay beside the Queen Charlotte Track in Endeavour Inlet.
Tawa Cove is approximately 13.5 km and 4–4.5 hours' walk from Ship Cove, making it an ideal first-night stop for walkers heading south along the Queen Charlotte Track.
Arrive by water taxi from Picton, walk the track from Ship Cove and enjoy a comfortable night beside the water before continuing your journey. Luggage transfers are also available, making it easier to walk the track without carrying everything with you.
Meals at Tawa Cove
Home-cooked meals, delivered straight to your accommodation.
Tawa Cove is completely remote, with no nearby restaurants or shops. After a day exploring the Marlborough Sounds or walking the Queen Charlotte Track, enjoy a home-cooked meal delivered directly to your cabin.
We also offer breakfast provisions and lunch packs, or you're welcome to bring your own food and self-cater. Each cabin has a kitchenette and BBQ, while guests staying in The Shanty can use our communal kitchen.
We have a simple but delicious menu, along with a selection of beer, wine, & non alcoholic drinks for purchase.
Getting to Tawa Cove
There are no roads to Tawa Cove -- and that's part of the magic.
Arrive by water taxi from Picton, come by private boat or walk the Queen Charlotte Track from Ship Cove.
Our private jetty makes arriving by water easy, while walkers can follow the track through the native bush to reach us.
There are some great scheduled service water taxis, as well as on demand options.
