A Unique Marlborough Sounds Escape
No roads, no close neighbours and no crowds. Just the beautiful Marlborough Sounds.
Tawa Cove is an adults-only retreat in Endeavour Inlet, offering three cosy self-contained timber cabins surrounded by native bush, & close to the waterfront & private jetty. We also offer The Shanty, our bunk room accommodation for up to 6 adults.
Relax in the waterfront hot tub, explore the Sounds by kayak or paddleboard, go fishing, walk the Queen Charlotte Track - or simply sit back & enjoy the view.
Accessible only by boat or walking via the Queen Charlotte Track - we are 4 1/2 hours walk from the start of the track, Ship Cove, making us the ideal first night stay while on your walking adventure.
Not keen on walking, no problem, jump on one of the scheduled water taxis from Picton & enjoy your leisurely 1 1/2 -2 hour trip out here, to be dropped off at our private jetty.
So, whether you are walking the QCT, having a couples escape or a group trip, we offer more than just a place to stay- you'll discover a haven of tranquillity.

We offer a selection of options for Food & Drink at Tawa Cove. We have a simple but delicious menu, along with a selection of beer, wine, & non alcoholic drinks for purchase. (just quietly, guests rave about our fish & chips!)
You may also like to bring your own food & self cater. Your water taxi can drop a chilly bag along with your luggage, which we can then pop in your cabin fridge. BBQ's are on each cabin deck for your use.
Queen Charlotte Track
The Marlborough Sounds is a playground for activites or purely relaxing & taking in the amazing natural surroundings. The Queen Charlotte Track is walked by thousands of people each year, whether it be the whole 73km or short day walks.
Getting here
No roads here! Access is by boat only or via the Queen Charlotte Track, walking or biking. There are some great scheduled service water taxis, as well as on demand options.
